What is Database ?

To understand what a database is, we need to know what data is. What is Data? Data is information that we think will be useful to us in some way. Your name, age, etc. are all data. An image or a document can also be data itself.

The accumulated data has much more importance in our lives with the advancement of technology. Many forward-looking decisions are made based on these data.

The collection that this data systematically creates is called a database. Databases support the storage and updating of data. Databases also facilitate the management of stored data. A phone book is essentially a database. The names inside are kept in order. This helps you find the number you want.

Let's take Microsoft Excel as an example. It is simply a database in Excel. Tables have rows and columns. It makes it easier to operate with the data you keep in them and make them more understandable. In Microsoft Access, it is a higher version of Excel in terms of database.

With the increase in the use of data, the importance of database increases accordingly. Where we are going to hold more data and do much more with it, using more advanced database software is the best option.

What is Database Management System (DBMS) ?

It is a set of programs that allow users to create a database, access the database, modify the data in it, or provide access control (and many other similar tasks).

Databases make companies much more efficient and provide valuable information to management. They help you understand your information. They allow you to make your services more valuable.

For example, if you have an online store, you must use a database to track customer data, purchases, prices, and other information. The data here can be imported directly into your accounting system and save the time of entering the data yourself.

The data also contributes to companies in stock management and marketing.
