What is PoE?

PoE stands for Power over Ethernet or. It is a technology that makes use of network cables to carry electrical power to a device. While the devices provide network connection, additional power connection is needed. POE allows it to power its devices without the need for additional electrical outlets.

It uses POE, Cat5e and Cat6 ethernet cables and can transmit 10/100/1000 Mbps data in addition to 15/30/60/90W power over a distance of up to 100 meters.

Cat5e and Cat6 ethernet cables are much less dangerous than traditional solutions, only because the voltages are limited. This includes automatic safety mechanisms to prevent overheating and a host of related issues that can harm users.
