The term Unicorn Startup refers to private ventures with a total market capitalization of over $1 billion.
The term was coined and popularized by "Aileen Lee", founder of "Cowboy Ventures", in an article titled Welcome to the Unicorn Club: Learning from Billion-Dollar Startups". The term was coined to describe the peculiarity of ventures that are as rare and valuable as finding a legendary unicorn.
